Summary: Arkan are 3D-printed airless wheels for unmanned ground vehicles, offering damage tolerance, simple field maintenance and greater energy efficiency for off-road deployments.

Arkan is a set of 3D printed airless wheels engineered for unmanned ground vehicles operating in tough off-road environments.

Constructed with a lightweight load-bearing lattice, the wheels use robust elastomers and polymer composites. The airless build eliminates tyre inflation entirely. Rounded treads and enclosed sidewalls prevent mud, stones and ice build-up. Even with moderate tread wear or partial damage, the wheels retain dependable load-bearing capability.

A two-piece rim enables on-site installation and replacement with basic tools, no specialist equipment needed. Wheel stiffness, damping and geometry can be digitally tuned to match different vehicle weights and operational demands.
Lower rolling resistance and power draw extend vehicle range by up to 30% compared with other airless wheel solutions. A full wheel set weighs 32–56 kg, substantially lighter than competing options, at a more affordable price point.

Rigorous field testing across boggy, frozen and rough terrain confirmed stable performance under heavy loads and towing duties, without delamination or structural cracks.

Arkan has finished its R&D phase and enters small-batch production. Merging additive manufacturing, polymer science and mechanical engineering, this solution delivers durable, easy-to-maintain mobility for unmanned ground robots working in remote, harsh landscapes.
