Product Description
Ultrasonic Sensor
Automatic obstacle avoidance made simple
The ultrasonic module is an electronic component designed for distance measurement, with a range of 3 cm to 400 cm. It can be used to help a robot vehicle avoid obstacles or to support other projects that require distance sensing.
In the ultrasonic module, the ultrasonic transmitter emits ultrasonic waves in a certain direction and starts timing at the same time. The ultrasonic waves propagate in the air, and upon encountering an obstacle along the way, they immediately bounce back. The ultrasonic receiver stops timing immediately upon receiving the reflected waves. Given that the propagation speed of sound waves in the air is 340 m/s, the distance $s$ from the emitting point to the obstacle can be calculated based on the time $t$ recorded by the timer, which is: $s = 340 \text{ m/s} \times t / 2$.
Wiring Method
RJ25 Connection
Since the module interface is marked in yellow, it must be connected to a port on the main control board that also bears a yellow label when using an RJ25 connection. Taking the Makeblock Orion as an example, it can be connected to ports 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8, as shown in the figure.
Dupont Wire Connection
When using Dupont wires to connect to the Arduino Uno mainboard, the SIG pin of the module needs to be connected to a DIGITAL pin, as shown in the figure below.
