Installation Precautions

Selecting the Installation Location

1.Choosing the optimal installation location for the inverter plays a very important role in its safe operation, service life assurance, and performance guarantee.

2.The inverter has an IP65 protection rating and can be installed indoors or outdoors.

3.The installation location should facilitate electrical connections, operation, and maintenance.

Installation Environment Requirements

1.If the inverter is installed in an area with lush vegetation, please perform regular weeding. Additionally, the ground beneath the inverter.

2.should be modified, such as by laying cement or gravel (the recommended area is 3m × 2.5m).

3.Do not install the inverter in environments that are flammable, explosive, or smoky.

4.It is strictly prohibited to install the inverter under air conditioning outlets, ventilation openings, cable exit windows of machine rooms, or other locations prone to water leakage, to prevent liquids from entering the equipment and causing malfunctions or short circuits.

5.The inverter must not be installed in areas containing corrosive substances, such as corrosive gases or organic solvents.



6.During operation, the surface of the inverter may have high temperatures and high voltages. Touching is strictly prohibited to prevent burns or electric shock.

7.The inverter must not be installed in locations where it can be easily touched by people.

8.It is very important to ensure good ventilation and heat dissipation for the inverter; please install it in a well-ventilated environment.

9.If the inverter is installed in a sealed or semi-sealed environment, additional cooling or ventilation devices must be added. The indoor ambient temperature during operation should not be higher than the outdoor temperature. A semi-sealed environment refers to a special space that is not fully enclosed on all six sides but is not conducive to natural ventilation, making it prone to gas accumulation or heat buildup.

10.The installation site must have solid ground without poor soil conditions such as clay, soft soil, or areas prone to subsidence. Low-lying areas prone to water accumulation or snow accumulation are strictly prohibited. The site’s horizontal plane should be above the historical highest water level of the region.

11.Installing the equipment in locations that can be flooded is strictly prohibited.

12.To avoid interference from ground vegetation or standing water affecting normal inverter operation, the bottom clearance can be appropriately raised if the top clearance meets requirements.

13.It is recommended to install the inverter in a shaded location to avoid direct sunlight or adverse weather (such as snow, rain, lightning, etc.). If installed in direct sunlight, the inverter has a self-protection derating function in high-temperature environments, which may lead to reduced power output as temperatures rise.

14.Before installing the inverter outdoors in a salt spray area, consult Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. Salt spray areas mainly refer to coastal regions within 500 meters of the shore. The amount of salt spray deposition varies significantly depending on the characteristics of adjacent seawater, sea breeze, precipitation, air humidity, topography, and forest cover.

15.The inverter must not be installed in chemically polluted environments, such as those containing halogens or sulfides.

16.The inverter must not be installed in environments with vibration or strong electromagnetic fields (which may cause common-mode interference). A strong magnetic field environment refers to one where the magnetic field strength exceeds 30 A/m. Such environments may cause the machine to malfunction.

17.In dusty environments, such as areas with excessive dust, smoke, or fibrous materials, particles in the environment may accumulate at the equipment’s air outlet or heat sink, affecting heat dissipation and potentially damaging the machine during cleaning. Therefore, the inverter must not be installed in dusty environments. If unavoidable, regularly clean the fans and heat sinks to ensure a good heat dissipation environment.

18.To avoid noise from equipment operation disturbing residents in living areas, do not install the inverter in noise-sensitive areas such as bedrooms. Preferably choose open locations far from residential rest areas.

19.The working environment temperature is based on the average temperature within 1 meter around the inverter.mpe Terature and humidity should meet the following requirements:

The load-bearing capacity of the installation support must be at least 4 times the weight of the inverter and match its dimensions.

It is strictly prohibited to install the inverter on supports that may generate resonance, to prevent excessive noise.

Installing the inverter on flammable building materials is strictly prohibited. It can be installed on non-flammable walls (such as concrete, fire-rated plasterboard, brick walls, etc.) and roofs (such as color steel tiles, precast concrete slabs, fiber-reinforced cement boards, etc.).

It is recommended to install the inverter vertically; do not install it tilted forward, backward, upside down, horizontally, or sideways.

Installation Space Requirements

Ensure sufficient space around the inverter to guarantee ventilation. 

The required installation space for a single inverter is shown in the figure below.


When installing multiple inverters, a certain spacing should be reserved between them, and linear (single-row) installation is recommended.
