Summary:The CHOHO Hand is a chain-driven dexterous robotic hand integrating high precision, high load capacity, and embodied intelligence for advanced industrial manipulation applications.
The CHOHO Hand is introduced as the world’s first chain-type dexterous robotic hand, marking a significant step forward in embodied intelligence and advanced robotic manipulation systems. Developed after nearly two years of research, the system combines chain-drive engineering with bionics, precision manufacturing, and intelligent control to overcome key limitations in robotic dexterous hand applications, including precision, durability, strength, and cost efficiency.

The design is built on a foundation of advanced chain transmission technology, achieving high performance in load capacity, wear resistance, energy efficiency, and mechanical stability. The system supports 17 degrees of freedom, including 7 active and 10 passive joints, with thumb articulation enabling complex grasping movements. Fingertip repeatability accuracy reaches ±0.1 mm, while a single-hand load capacity exceeds 40 kg, enabling precise manipulation of irregular objects, assembly tasks, and industrial handling operations.
The CHOHO Hand achieves a transmission efficiency of 95%–98% through micro-chain and sprocket mechanisms, balancing high strength with fine motor control. Weighing only 715 g, the system delivers strong force output while maintaining lightweight structure. Its operating range spans from -20°C to 60°C, with resistance to wear, corrosion, and fire, making it suitable for industrial environments requiring reliability under harsh conditions.

The system is positioned as a cost-efficient alternative to cable-driven and direct-drive robotic hands, significantly reducing long-term maintenance costs over a five-year lifecycle. It supports applications across industrial manufacturing, precision assembly, medical operations, and hazardous environments. Demonstrations at the launch event showcased robotic systems performing object manipulation and water-handling tasks, highlighting its readiness for real-world deployment.
With customizable sensors and housing materials, the CHOHO Hand is designed for flexible integration across industries such as 3C electronics, automotive production, logistics sorting, and high-risk operations in chemical plants, mining, and nuclear environments. Its combination of embodied intelligence and mechanical innovation positions it as a scalable solution for next-generation robotic dexterous manipulation.
