On January 14th, LivsMed, a Seoul-based medical technology company, officially listed on the KOSDAQ market in South Korea, completing its initial public offering (IPO) of approximately $94 million. The offering was met with enthusiastic global investment, attracting significant attention not only from large South Korean pension funds and institutional investors but also from major international financial institutions headquartered in New York and Boston, demonstrating the market's high regard for its core technologies and globalization strategy.
With the completion of the IPO, LivsMed's market capitalization successfully surpassed the $1 billion mark, laying a solid financial foundation for its global expansion. It is understood that the funds raised will be primarily used in three areas: building an integrated production base to enhance the production capacity and quality control of core products; increasing R&D investment to continuously iterate and innovate medical device technologies; and strengthening its management system to provide comprehensive support for the global market expansion of its entire product line.
As a company focused on high-end surgical instruments, LivsMed's core product portfolio is highly competitive. Among its products, the ArtiSential series of fully articulated handheld laparoscopic instruments is a flagship product. Its wrist-like, flexible design significantly improves the precision and flexibility of surgical procedures, adapting to the needs of complex surgical scenarios. Building on this, the company further developed the ArtiSeal 90-degree articulated vascular closure device. This product enables multi-angle operation within the confined anatomical space of the human body, effectively overcoming the limitations of traditional instruments in complex anatomical environments.
Notably, LivsMed is fully committed to its globalization strategy, planning to simultaneously launch its core instrument technologies and its Stark surgical robot in the US market. In July 2025, the company collaborated with Sovato to conduct early feasibility wet laboratory testing, successfully demonstrating the remote surgical capabilities of the Stark system—the surgeon's console was located in Santa Barbara, California, while the surgical robot system was deployed in Chicago. This successful demonstration of remote surgery across geographical locations validated the system's technological maturity and application potential.
“As we scale globally, we remain focused on making advanced surgical capability more accessible,” said Jung Joo Lee, founder and CEO of LivsMed. “An innovation cannot be called an innovation unless it can reach the masses.”
Industry analysts believe that LivsMed’s successful IPO not only provides the company with financial support but also enhances its brand influence in the global high-end medical device market. As its core products are gradually implemented in the global market, it is expected to further drive technological innovation in the field of surgery, bringing a higher quality healthcare experience to patients worldwide.
