The K2 “Bumblebee” humanoid robot has successfully completed a real-world high-altitude welding operation, demonstrating how humanoid robotics can support safer and more efficient industrial tasks in challenging environments. The project marks a significant step toward deploying humanoid robots in construction, infrastructure maintenance, and other high-risk workplaces.

During the operation, the humanoid robot performed welding work at an altitude of around 20 meters while being remotely controlled by an engineer from a safe ground location. Using an immersive remote operation system, the operator’s movements—such as arm positioning, body rotation, and welding torch adjustments—were captured and transmitted to the robot in real time.
The K2 “Bumblebee” uses a combination of motion capture, low-latency communication, and force feedback technologies to achieve precise human-robot collaboration. Its dual-arm coordination system allows it to hold and adjust welding tools while maintaining stable posture and accurate operation in complex environments.
