      Vacuum forming, also known as sheet forming, is a widely used plastics processing technology. It primarily utilizes the principle of vacuum adsorption to adsorb a hot, softened plastic sheet onto the surface of a mold, which then solidifies after cooling to produce a plastic product with a specific shape.


Key Principles

The key principle of thermoplastic sheet forming is simple: thermoplastics soften when heated, deform under pressure, and stabilize when cooled.


Specifically:

Heating: The plastic sheet is fixed and heated to a high elasticity level above its softening point.

Absorption: The softened plastic sheet is moved over a mold, which contains small, densely packed air holes.

Vacuum suction: A vacuum pump is activated to rapidly expel air between the mold and the plastic sheet, creating a negative pressure (vacuum).

Forming: Under a significant pressure difference between the external atmospheric pressure and the internal vacuum, the softened plastic sheet is firmly "sucked" or "pressed" against the curve of the mold.

Cooling and Mold Removal: After the plastic has cooled and solidified, the vacuum is released. The finished product is removed from the mold, and excess material is removed.

Product parameters

General Materials The materials used for sheet forming are all thermoplastics. They generally include:

PETG:

It is widely used, has high transparency, good toughness, easy forming, is environmentally 

friendly and non-toxic, and is widely used in food packaging and electronic product trays.

PVC:

It has good rigidity and low cost. It is available in both transparent and opaque versions, 

but its environmental friendliness is slightly worse and it is being gradually replaced.

PS:

Including general-purpose PS and high-impact PS, which are commonly used in disposable 

lunch boxes, stationery trays, etc.

PP:

It is heat resistant and has good toughness, suitable for packing food into the microwave, etc.

ABS:

มIt has good mechanical strength and high surface gloss, and is often used to make electrical appliance housings, luggage cases, etc.

PMMA:

Acrylic, also known as acrylic, has excellent transparency and is used in high-end display cases, light boxes, etc.
