Installation steps

Wiring Operation Sequence:
1.B- terminal: Connect the B- terminal of the protection board to the total negative of the battery pack.
2.Connect the battery balancing wires: Follow the wiring diagram for different cell counts on the right. After connecting, first plug in the socket with the black balancing wire (low voltage end), then plug in the socket with the red balancing wire (high voltage end).
3.Power on the protection board: After wiring, the protection board needs to be activated to search for the Bluetooth signal. When activated, the buzzer will beep once, the green working LED on the left will start flashing, and the blue Bluetooth LED on the right will also flash.
Power-on method 1: As shown in 3, the two black wires on the far right of the communication port are the power-on wires. Connect a switch, and short press the switch to activate the protection board.
Function of the switch button:
(1) When the protection board is off, short press the switch to activate it; when the board is in standby, short press can immediately wake it up.
(2) In parameter settings → manufacturer parameters → function configuration 1, check [long press shutdown] to enable shutdown by pressing and holding for 10 seconds. Whether to reserve a switch button depends on personal needs.
Power-on method 2: The power-on wires can also be shorted to activate the board. Do not let the power-on wires touch live parts to avoid damaging the power-on circuit and causing failure.
If the power-on wires are always shorted, the protection board cannot be turned off, leading to the following side effects:
(1) After connecting Bluetooth and clicking [Turn off BMS] on the BMS control page, the board will automatically activate again.
(2) The board has a low voltage automatic shutdown protection function. If the battery is not used for a long time and the voltage is low, the board cannot be turned off, continuing to drain the battery, which may damage it.
Power-on method 3: Charge with a charger to activate the board. The charger output voltage must be at least 2V higher than the current battery pack voltage to activate.
4. Working LED: After power-on, the green LED flashes; in standby, it flashes every 4 seconds. Standby reduces self-consumption (power consumption <2mA in sleep, <4mA in operation, 0 when off). Note: Standby is not shutdown; shutdown requires reactivation to resume operation.
5.Bluetooth LED: After power-on, the blue LED flashes. When it flashes, the phone can search for Bluetooth signals starting with "ANT". Before setting parameters for the first time, the Bluetooth LED flashes continuously. When a fault protection is triggered, it also flashes continuously. After parameters are set, if the board has no charge/discharge for more than 1800 seconds, it enters standby mode. When the board detects charge/discharge current >1A for more than 1 second, it wakes up. In parameter settings → system parameters → [No current auto standby time], you can modify the standby time; set to 0 to disable standby.
6.Connecting Bluetooth: After first power-on, you need to connect Bluetooth and set battery parameters for normal use. Before setting parameters, the voltage measured at the output of the protection board will be a few volts lower than the total battery pack voltage, and charging/discharging is not possible. This is normal. After setting parameters and with no protection information, the charge/discharge MOS will turn on, and the output voltage will match the battery pack voltage.
7. Back temperature interface: External battery temperature sensors T1, T2, T3, T4 can be placed in four different positions to detect temperature. Connecting them is optional and does not affect normal operation.
8.C- terminal: Connect the black silicone wire of the C- terminal to the negative of the load and the negative of the charger.
9. Connecting load: Before connecting the load (e.g., electric vehicle) to the battery pack, turn off all continuously power-consuming devices (e.g., headlights, turn signals, horn). You can directly turn off the vehicle's ignition switch to cut power, then connect the load positive and negative to the battery. Otherwise, the protection board may prompt [pre-charge failure] protection.
The pre-charge function charges the capacitors in the load. If a load continuously consumes current greater than the pre-charge rate, the capacitors will never be fully charged. The pre-charge time is 3 seconds; if pre-charge fails within this time, a failure prompt appears. Without pre-charge, directly enabling discharge may cause a large surge current, easily damaging power MOSFETs.
10.Connecting charger: First plug the charger into the battery, then plug it into the household 220V socket.
When the battery is fully charged, first unplug the charger from the 220V socket, then unplug the charging connector from the battery. This prevents high-voltage surges from the 220V AC from impacting the protection board and battery.
Disassembly sequence:
1. If the C- terminal is connected to a load or charger, disconnect it first.
2. Unplug the balancing wires: first unplug the socket with the red balancing wire, then the socket with the black balancing wire (can be unplugged regardless of whether the board is on).
3. Finally, disconnect the B- terminal blue silicone wire (total negative).
Pre-purchase Notice
1. Smart BMS has over 10 years of industry experience, focusing on R&D of core technology for smart protection boards. Each product is strictly tested according to industry standards before leaving the factory, with a failure rate as low as 1%.
2. Lithium batteries are dangerous goods. If individual buyers lack knowledge about lithium batteries and electrical work, it is recommended to seek professional lithium battery maintenance personnel for installation.
3. The protection board is fragile during installation. A slight mistake in wiring may cause serious damage to the BMS. Be very careful to avoid unnecessary disputes caused by wiring errors.
