Production process
| 1. Extruding plastic sheets | 2. Vacuum forming shape | 3. Cooling |
ABS, HIPS, PP, HDPE, and other resin granules are melted and stirred at high temperatures, and then extruded (or co-extruded) to form the plastic sheets needed for thermoforming. | After the plastic sheet is heated and softened, it is moved directly above the mold. The plastic sheet is then blown upwards to form a hemisphere. The mold is then raised so that the plastic sheet contacts the surface of the mold. Finally, a vacuum is created to remove the air between the plastic sheet and the mold, thus completing the vacuum forming process. | The newly vacuum-formed plastic shell needs to be cooled before separating from the mold to maintain its shape. The use of a cooling circulating fan significantly shortens the cooling time. |
4. Trim the edges | 5. Drill holes along the edge of the gong. | 6. Adhesive bonding |
To more accurately machine the holes in the product, excess material must first be trimmed. Sawing is often used in this stage, and the edges are then sanded smooth. | To achieve quick installation between the thermoformed product and other accessories, this process is necessary: drilling holes in the outer shell according to the requirements of other accessories or installation drawings. | Special adhesive is used to bond and reinforce the vacuum-formed plastic parts or to seal areas, thereby improving the product's performance. |
7. CNC machining | 8. Quality Inspection | 9. Clean the packaging |
To enable more accurate and faster subsequent processing of vacuum-formed plastic housings, CNC machining is frequently used. CNC equipment is programmed by a computer to select the correct cutting tools and angles for each cut and hole. | Before packaging, we carefully inspect all vacuum-formed plastic shells for dimensions, surface finish, contour curves, color requirements, and other aspects. | All vacuum-formed plastic casings are cleaned with an air gun and a special cleaning cloth before packaging. The products are packaged in plastic film or cardboard boxes to prevent scratches that could affect the use of the plastic casing. |
Functional Features
Vacuum forming process ============== High molding efficiency, suitable for mass production of medium to large-sized thick-walled plastic parts; low mold cost and short development cycle; can achieve integrated molding of large-size and complex curved surfaces, reducing splicing. |
============== It has strong process adaptability and is compatible with various engineering plastics such as ABS, PC, and PP. The structure is stable, the wall thickness is relatively uniform, and the production cost is controllable, making it suitable for medium-batch production scenarios. |
Vacuum forming process ============== Lightweight advantages: Compared to injection molded or sheet metal parts, it is lighter in weight while maintaining the same strength, saving materials; Excellent surface texture: Textures and logos can be integrally molded, with smooth or custom matte finishes. |
