Building a Novel Pendulum Power Generator

This video shows how a pendulum generator turns a ship’s rocking motion into electricity – even when all power is lost. Starting from a simple magnet and copper block, we build a large 40 kg pendulum, add coils, rectifiers, and capacitors, and finally produce up to 80 V (0.28 W average). Although charging a smartphone takes ~1,000 swings, the setup can power LEDs, motors, and even an electromagnetic rail launcher. Watch how electromagnetic damping, full‑bridge rectifiers, and clever magnet arrangements turn movement into usable emergency power for onboard communications.
